Service User Involvement

Real United recognises the importance of involving parents and young people in the development of its services. Only by listening to the views of our service users will we be able to fully recognise and fulfil the needs of our young people.

We have a number of tools that enable our service users and mentors to help us to monitor and evaluate the success of the projects and steer the direction of our services:

  • Questionnaires exploring how our young people and parents feel about how we work with them and improvements we can make to better match their needs
  • Individual support plans and young people's reflective accounts
  • Measuring and evaluating success through recorded incidents of youth crime, anti social behaviour and school incidents, to assess whether there has been a marked decrease or increase.
  • End of project presentations are an opportunity for young people to showcase what they have gained from the project, using videos, photos, testimonies, etc.

Young people are involved in the process of recruiting staff by sitting on interview panels, and are encouraged to offer their feedback. A diverse cross section of young people ensures a fair representation of opinion.
